Redbrook Kennels is operated and loved by Janet Loehr. Her grandfather, R.W. Bruene, started Redbrook Stock Farm in Cushing, Iowa in 1905, breeding registered shorthorn cattle and Hampshire hogs. He had two red-roofed barns and a brook in the pasture, hence the name Redbrook.
In 1970, Janet used the name for her paint and quarterhorse operation, for her farming and feed lot operations in Iowa, and for cattle, oil, and gas ranches in Texas.
When she bought her first Australian Shepherd in 2000, after the deaths of her son and father, it was to help with the cattle ranch. Another Aussie followed quickly in 2004 and Janet was bitten by the dog show bug!
Janet and Redbrook have owned some of the top conformation dogs in the country ever since. Her dogs are also titled in agility, obedience, and stock and she has earned AKC's Breeder of Merit Recognition.
